how to choose the right grind size

Grind size affects everything from flavor to flow rate. A finer grind slows the brew for a stronger cup, while coarser grinds brew faster and taste lighter. That’s why we grind to a balanced medium by default—it works beautifully for most methods, including drip machines, pour-over, AeroPress, and refillable pods.

Both are great—it depends on your routine. Whole bean coffee lets you control grind size and preserves freshness longer. Ground coffee saves time and still delivers bold, balanced flavor—especially when it’s roasted and milled to order like ours.

If you brew daily and want easy mornings, ground coffee is a great match. If you love experimenting with flavor or brew methods, try whole bean. Either way, our coffee is always fresh, never bitter, and roasted with care.

As someone who appreciates a good cup of coffee, I've become more discerning as to what I like and quite frankly what I feel tastes good. We're spoiled for choice when it comes to the range of options out there though to me, Happi Coffee simply hits the mark.

How fresh is Nawalee's ground coffee?

Every bag is roasted and ground to order—never in advance—and shipped within 1–3 business days. That means your coffee lands on your doorstep just days after roasting and grinding, at its peak flavor and aroma.

What grind size will I receive?

We use a versatile medium grind that works beautifully in most auto-drip coffee makers, pour-over brewers (V60, Chemex, Kalita), AeroPress recipes, and refillable K-Cup filters. It’s our go-to for balanced extraction and a smooth, consistent cup.

Can I get a different grind?

Not at the moment—but if you need an espresso-fine or French-press coarse grind, we recommend choosing our whole bean coffee so you can grind fresh to your exact preference at home.

How is the coffee packaged for freshness?

Each 12-oz bag is nitrogen-flushed and sealed with a one-way degassing valve. This special valve lets built-up CO₂ escape while blocking oxygen—keeping your coffee’s flavor and aroma locked in until you’re ready to brew.

Is the packaging eco-friendly?

Yes! Our coffee bags are food-safe and fully recyclable, and we ship using packaging that’s right-sized and curbside recyclable. Great coffee, smaller footprint.
