About Nawalee
Coffee Shaped by Place and People
Nawalee is a specialty coffee brand built around origin, people, and connection. We offer freshly roasted coffee that allows you to experience the true flavor of where it comes from—and the care and craft of the people behind it.
Coffee doesn’t taste the way it does by accident. Flavor is shaped by land, climate, and human knowledge long before a bean ever reaches a roaster. Our role is to respect those influences, roast with intention, and make them clear in the cup.

Why Nawalee Exists
We believe coffee is at its best when it reflects its origin honestly.
That means freshness matters. Sourcing matters. And the way a coffee is handled—from farm to roast—matters just as much as what’s written on the label. Our goal isn’t to smooth away differences, but to highlight them, so each coffee tastes like itself.
This belief guides everything we do, from how we select coffees to how we describe them to our customers.
The Story Behind the Name
Nawalee was born from a personal turning point.
A few years ago, our founder Randy visited a coffee farm in the highlands of Guatemala—his homeland. Seeing firsthand the effort, risk, and care farmers invest into every harvest reshaped how he understood coffee, and the imbalance built into the system around it.
As the brand grew under its former name, Happi Coffee, it became clear that something was missing. The coffee had depth—but the name and identity no longer carried the full weight of the story behind it.
Nawalee comes from the Mayan concept of the Nawal—a guiding spirit believed to connect people to the world around them. The idea resonated deeply: that every place has a spirit, and every coffee carries an imprint of where it comes from and who brings it to life.
Our Symbol
Our brand icon, the Resplendent Quetzal, reflects that belief.
In Mayan culture, the quetzal represents spirit, freedom, and connection to the natural world. For us, it symbolizes the living energy behind each origin we work with—and the respect we hold for the cultures and communities connected to them.
Our Coffee
From expressive single origins to balanced signature blends, every Nawalee coffee is roasted to order for peak freshness. We work with experienced, responsible partners to source high-quality coffees and roast them carefully to highlight how each one truly tastes.
Our coffees are available whole bean or ground, clearly labeled, and described without exaggeration—so you know what you’re brewing and why it tastes the way it does.
No snobbery. No overcomplication. Just coffee that’s fresh, thoughtful, and honest.
For Our Happi Customers
If you knew us as Happi Coffee, you’ll find the same coffees you love—roasted the same way, sourced through the same trusted partners, and handled with the same care.
What’s changed is the name and the clarity of what we stand for.
Nawalee is simply a better reflection of who we’ve always been.
We hope every cup of Nawalee becomes a moment to slow down, pay attention, and connect—to place, to people, and to the craft behind your coffee.
Taste the spirit of where your coffee comes from.
